Description

My client is recruiting a Database Administrator to support their growing business. This is a critical role within the IT function, working independently and as part of a team, this DBA role will be responsible for ensuring the optimum performance of the SQL Server database platforms. In addition to the day-to-day maintenance of the database infrastructure, including BI data feeds the DBA will be responsible for supporting the move to Dynamics365 from our current solutions and ensuring appropriate support structures are in place for the new Dynamics ERP.

 

This role is a permanent opportunity, operating from our offices in Drogheda.

 

Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include:

  • Managing SQL Server instances in a virtualised environment
  • Managing ETL Loads
  • Managing production databases
  • Performance Tuning and Optimisation (PTO)
  • Managing High Availability of SQL Server databases
  • Managing database backups and disaster recovery
  • Resolving database related incidents
  • Automation of operational tasks
  • Developing operational policies, procedures, controls and standards
  • Helping Developers to improve database performance

 

Position Requirements:

 We are looking for a person that has:

  • 3-5+ years of experience with Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
  • Good knowledge of T-SQL and scripting (including PowerShell)
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations in a virtualised environment
  • Good communication and documentation skills are essential
  • Good understanding of MS Azure and Dynamics365
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

 

Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:

  • Involvement with the MSSQL Server Community
  • Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP, MVP
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Tabular

 

Experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Windows OS configuration
  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC)
  • C# Scripts
  • Dynamic SQL
