6 months contract initially – hybrid remote(max. 2x a week onsite)

The Scrum Master is responsible for sprint planning, prioritizing, tracking, and driving web development projects through the sprint development cycle. This position will work with technical teams to run the sprint ceremonies, design teams, and stakeholders to fully define the work, as well as business stakeholders to prioritize and plan sprints and releases.

The Scrum Master will be well versed in Agile methodology and applying it to an enterprise web development environment. Strong scrum master skills and a passion to iterate and improve processes are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge of software development methods and processes.
  • Organizes and facilitates team backlog management, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, demos, and other scrum-related rituals.
  • Work with numerous stakeholders to ensure their needs are accounted for and tracked. Ensure tickets are well-defined and actionable.
  • Align with stakeholders to prioritize and plan sprints to reflect business priorities.
  • Escalate issues that impede the team.
  • Manage risk and deployment schedules.
  • Lead the team in estimating work, detailing requirements, and identifying dependencies.
  • Track and communicate issues and project status.
  • Promotes Agile knowledge and best practices across the organization to maximize the scrum team´s performance and effectiveness.
  • Coaches individuals and teams across the organization in iteration methods, to be collaborative and customer-focused, and to create a transparent environment that facilitates an Agile response to challenges.
  • Builds consensus through collaboration and can influence organizations on the implementation of the Agile methodology.

Education and Experience:

  • Typically 6+ years of work experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years experience as an Agile Scrum Master is preferred.
  • Experience as an Agile Coach is a plus.
  • Experience in leading an organization’s transition from Waterfall to Agile is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrable proficiency in Agile methods, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience working in an environment where Agile was applied at scale.
  • Experience operating in a variety of Software Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile).
  • Experienced facilitator able to apply various techniques to ensure effective meetings both co-located and distributed.
  • Strong leadership skills and a history of leading through influence.

Impact/Scope:

  • Typically works with 2 to 3 scrum teams at any given time.
  • Ability to help people leaders within their teams, to understand their changing role in an Agile environment.
  • Comfortable with the implementation and execution of Scrum in an environment where individuals are unfamiliar with the methodology.

Complexity:

  • Ability to work with individuals of their organization at all levels; from the individual contributor level up to leadership level.
  • High degree of autonomy in determining the best course of action.
